I continue to ride this wave of uncertainty which I've grown some unconscious, unexplainable avidity for. No matter how much I may openly crave calmness and stability, my inner-self longs for chaos and disorder. Where this comes from, I wish the answer would reveal itself.
Tomorrow, I have an interview scheduled with a temp agency who filled me in on a position which sounds just up my alley. Of course, therein lies the problem. After the recent, hostile takeover (yes, it was) of my current company, my position is "safe," according to the big wigs. Furthermore, last Friday's meeting on the new benefits package from the supreme overlords has tilted me, somewhat, back in their favor. It even puts Globex to shame.
Yeah. I'm in mourning, today.

Last weekend marked my first experience with Moroccan cuisine, and I cannot thank my good friend, M., for the invitation. Now I won't go overboard in proclaiming it's the best food I've ever tasted. Only a fool would believe everything on the menu is flown straight in from Rabat. Let's not kid ourselves. Now this is not a place to just bring your significant other for a dinner date. In fact, the minimum number of patrons in your party should be at least four, because there WILL be leftovers after each course (n=7). Fortunately, we met that minimum requirement.
When we stepped through the curtains, my rods & cones took about 15 to 20 minutes to adjust to the surroundings. To reference the phrase "dimly lit" would be a compliment. Instead of large napkins, our waiter literally passed out bathroom towels for each of us. The next tradition was for us to hold out our hands over a large empty bowl sitting on the table, where the waiter poured water over each pair. Saving us each a trip to the bathroom, eh? That's a nice touch. Then it was on to selecting a few pieces of pita bread as our eating utensils. Of course, brain-dead Cappy only selected 3 slices at the time. More on that later...
The first course began with a salad platter consisting of cucumbers, "Salmonella-negative" tomatoes, sweet peppers, eggplant, carrots, and lentil soup. The next one was called Bastilla, a dough stuffed with chicken, eggs, cinnamon, sugar, almonds, and topped with POWDERED sugar. I know it sounds disgusting as a combination. But it was damn delicious! 15 years ago, I would've never touched it. The third course was my personal favorite: chicken w/ hot sauce & cumin. My, oh my, did that make my tongue burn for hours. Mmmmmm.....incapacitating. This was followed by Course #4: beef shish kabob. Not that exotic, since it's the same thing you can grill on your Weber. Beef, onions, and green peppers. This is about where I ran out of pita bread (see: "brain-dead Cappy")
With every up comes a down, and that was Course #5: couscous with raisins and chick peas. Can't say I was a fan of that one. Neither could the other three in our party. It tasted as though the flavor was sucked dry beforehand. The last two courses consisted of fruits, dessert (baklava), and mint tea, which I warmed up to after almost spitting it out the first two times.
They say you pay for what you get, and that's exactly what our $130 bill amounted. Oh, I'm sorry. Did I forget to mention our fine belly dancer, who performed twice within the 2.5-hour period we were served? How silly of me. I wouldn't say she was cheerleader material, but she would've been welcome company @ Casa-cappa.
Moving onward & downward, my company has just declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy. And in the next 1-2 weeks, I can plan on being interviewed by the 2 Bobs, well in this case one, representing the evil corporation that bought us out. The depression is just mounting as I've also been suffering constant pain on the left side of my shoulder all the way to my lower back, preventing me from jogging. If there is a song to describe my current state of well-being, this is it.

My fourth-worst nightmare hit me right in the face this morning when I opened the windows to give the A/C a break. You see, I only like to go with A/C when I'm sleeping and never during the day time the temperature is actually warmer. Yes, I'm backwards that way. Anywhosawhatsa, it was just past 9:00am and I knew if I didn't lace up the running shoes soon, I'd live to regret it when birds would be pecking on my sweat-soaked body in the noon-day sun, passed out on the asphalt.
The past couple of mornings I skipped my morning jog to let the muscles recover after 3 straight days of activity. I could feel myself starting to sweat even as I was stretching to get loose! This did not bode well at all. So I downed a small bottle of Gatorade for the much needed electrolytes that I was sure to lose a few minutes later. Also leave it to me to wear a black t-shirt & black running shorts in these conditions. Smart one, Cappy!! The only silver lining in this story involved me getting doused by a lawn sprinkler on one of the residential blocks of my route. Bitchin'!

1) What were you doing ten years ago? Let me think...June 2, 1998. Winding down my senior year of high school, but I wasn't ill from senioritis. I still took final exams seriously like any other year. But, I also indulged in way too many illegal, recreational activities which I called getting "droned." Put 1 & 1 together and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire: A wise man once said "Two chicks at the same time." Well since I'm a billionaire instead of a millionaire, I'm going to 1-up Lawrence. Not only two chicks at the same time, but I'm also handing out hybrid cars to my Vox neighborhood because I'm a caring guy like that.
5.) Places I have lived: Cleburne, Texas (4 months counts, right?); Haddonfield, New Jersey; Newark, Delaware; Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania
6.) Jobs I have had: After-school aide, gas station attendant, temp. employee (included baseball card stamping, then shipping Subaru car parts....it was breathtaking), assistant scientist, associate scientist, QC technologist
7.) People I want to know more about: It's open season on anyone who wants to be next in line. And I have no idea why Vox won't let me un-bold this part.
